Bretax lignosulfonates obtain the EPD
Five additional EPDs have been issued and registered, dedicated to the Bretax line lignosulfonates produced at the Tolmezzo plant: Bretax C, Bretax CL, Bretax AML, Bretax SL and Bretax CLRO2.
The EPDs collect objective data relating to the main environmental impacts, such as energy consumption, greenhouse gas emissions, waste generation and the use of natural resources. This information is derived from an analysis that considers all phases of the product life cycle.
Through the EPDs, customers and users can easily compare the environmental performance of similar products and orient themselves towards more sustainable solutions, while companies are encouraged to continuously improve their production processes and to choose lower-impact materials.
With the addition of the Bretax line EPDs, Burgo Group reaffirms its strategy focused on sustainability, traceability, and the continuous improvement of production processes. This enables the company to offer customers an ever-wider portfolio of products supported by official, certified, and comparable environmental data.
The EPDs for the lignosulfonates were verified by the certification body SGS and published on the international EPD portal; they are accessible via the link and QR code below.
Bretax AML
Bretax AML is an ammonium-based lignosulfonate derived from the cooking of spruce wood with a calcium bisulfite solution. It appears as a brown, biodegradable liquid that is fully miscible with water. It is used as a co-formulant in tanning, as an additive for soil stabilization, and as a dispersant in refractory production.
Bretax CL
Bretax CL is a calcium-based lignosulfonate derived from the cooking of spruce wood with a calcium bisulfite solution. It appears as a brown, biodegradable liquid that is fully miscible with water. It is used as a plasticizer in concrete and cement, as a dispersant in the leather and textile industries, and as a binder in the production of pellets, ceramics, bricks, and refractories.
Bretax SL
Bretax SL is a sodium-based lignosulfonate derived from the cooking of spruce wood with a calcium bisulfite solution. It appears as a brown, biodegradable liquid that is fully miscible with water. It is used as a plasticizer in concrete and cement, as a dispersant in the leather and textile industries, and as a binder in the production of pellets, ceramics, bricks, and refractories.
Bretax C
Bretax C is a calcium-based lignosulfonate derived from the cooking of spruce wood with a calcium bisulfite solution and subsequently subjected to spray drying. It appears as a brown, biodegradable powder that is water-soluble. It is used as a plasticizer in concrete and cement, as a dispersant in the leather and textile industries, and as a binder in the production of pellets, ceramics, bricks, and refractories.
Bretax CL RO2
Bretax CLRO2 is a calcium-based, sugar-free lignosulfonate derived from the cooking of spruce wood with a calcium bisulfite solution. The product is refined by removing natural sugars through the addition of soda. It appears as a brown, biodegradable liquid that is fully miscible with water. It is used as a plasticizer in concrete and cement, as an auxiliary agent in paper surface treatment, and as a dispersant for batteries and electroplating baths.
