Avezzano Open Day

Avezzano Open Day: a glimpse into the world of BCB

On Saturday 10 June, the Avezzano paper mill welcomed visitors to discover the structure and production processes of the plant.

The awaited Open Day of the Avezzano plant met the enthusiastic participation of around 400 people, including numerous residents of the area, professionals of the sector, and students, eager to discover the production process of the Containerboard range.

The event provided a wonderful meeting occasion and an opportunity to show the industrial reality of the paper mill, highlighting the steady commitment and professionalism of the team.

It was precisely thanks to the great involvement of the employees and the excellent teamwork that visitors had the opportunity to visit the plant through a tour, lasting about an hour and a half, and see the production facilities and machinery up close in complete safety.

In addition to offering a great opportunity for employees and visitors to meet and learn more about the industrial processes, the Avezzano Plant Open Day successfully demonstrated Burgo Papers' dedication to innovation, sustainability, and transparency, appointing the paper mill not only as an important production facility of the area but also as an enriching element for the territory and the local community.

An ongoing commitment to environmental and social sustainability

Faithful to its commitment towards sustainable production and economy, Burgo Group has heavily invested in the Avezzano plant to develop cutting-edge technologies, minimising waste and promoting a circular economy.

In 2018, an investment of tens of millions of euros enabled the transition to the production of corrugated cardboard for the packaging industry. Today, the paper mill producing the Containerboard range guarantees an annual production of around 220,000 tons of paper made from 100% secondary fibres: recycled paper from separate waste collection, packaging recovery, and processing scraps.

Burgo Containerboard's range includes top-liner, test-liner and fluting papers, all available with FSC® and PEFC certifications.

The papers produced at the Avezzano plant are made with renewable, totally recyclable, and ecologically sustainable resources, ensuring strength, moisture resistance and excellent printing results, thus proving to be ideal choice for the production of all types of packaging solutions, from the agricultural to the industrial sector, from logistics to large-scale distribution.
