1905-2025: Burgo celebrates 120 years

In 2025, Burgo celebrates 120 years in business: a milestone that confirms the Group's solidity and ability to meet the challenges of a constantly evolving industry, and an opportunity to renew its commitment to a responsible future.

burgo group 120 years

In 1905, thanks to Luigi Burgo's intuition, the company Cartiere di Verzuolo ing. Burgo & C. was founded on 21 June. By harnessing the local surplus of hydroelectric energy, paper production began in Verzuolo, in the province of Cuneo.
From that intuition, a company was born, destined to become a protagonist in the history of the Italian and European paper industry.

An industrial journey spanning centuries

In its 120 years of operation, Burgo has evolved and consolidated its presence on the market, adapting to sectoral changes and establishing itself as a benchmark in the paper industry.
Today, this anniversary represents not only a historic milestone but also an opportunity to acknowledge the fundamental contributions of those whose passion and expertise have made the Group's growth and solidity possible, and who continue to inspire us to face the challenges of the future with renewed determination.

Different shareholders, different plants, different individuals have contributed to writing Burgo's history at all levels. All have contributed their work to making Burgo capable of adapting to changes in the economic context, allowing it to keep pace with the times. [...] So, long live Burgo!
