The Burgo Group 2023 Sustainability Report is online
The Burgo Group 2023 Sustainability Report is now available online.
This is the fifth edition of a document tracking the sustainability journey of the Group which, since last year, has undertaken the ESG GO 2030 strategy.
This is a strategy developed over the past twelve months through seven thematic tables, dedicated to implementing and monitoring the actions necessary to achieve the goals in line with those set by the United Nations 2030 Agenda.
The GO 2030 strategy is set in a context that, despite complex market conditions, has seen the Group further diversify its production.
Growth segments such as specialty and packaging papers were developed in this respect, as evidenced by the launch of the five new references in the SUN range, in the FBB (Folding Box Board) and FSB (Food Service Board) segments.
The first report certified with GRI principles
One of the most interesting new features of the 2023 Sustainability Report is its certification for the first time in accordance with the GRI (Global Reporting Initiative) principles. These international guidelines for sustainability reporting set standards for all the companies that want to communicate their impact transparently and comparably.
A table at the end of the document allows the reader to find out which GRIs were applied – General Disclosures, Material Issues, Training and Education, Diversity and Equal Opportunities and Social Assessment of Suppliers – and where.
Regarding the targets, Ignazio Capuano, CEO of Burgo Group, emphasises the reduction of emissions per tonne of paper produced, the increase in the amount of energy from renewable sources used in production, the reduction of accidents at work and the increase in female representation at managerial level.
The 2023 Sustainability Report becomes, Capuano continues, a reflection of our corporate philosophy: operating with integrity, responsibility and a long-term vision.
